The Risks of CO2<\/sub><\/h2>\n

There is no reason to expose yourself to the risk of dangerous levels of CO2<\/sub>! Even a slight increase in CO2<\/sub> concentration in the air is dangerous for humans. Normal outdoor air has an average CO2<\/sub> concentration of only 0.04%. At a concentration of 1.5% CO2<\/sub>, humans react with an increased heart rate; at 4% CO2<\/sub>, there is an immediate danger to life and health (IDLH). <\/p>\n

\"\"As CO2<\/sub> is increasingly generated or used in various applications, people are at risk of inhaling CO2<\/sub> concentrations above the IDLH (Immediate Danger to Life and Health) value in their daily lives, at work, and during leisure time. For example, fermentation gases in wineries and breweries, or in restaurants and pubs where carbonated soft drinks are dispensed. <\/p>\n

To avoid accidents, employers and employees must be aware of the risks of working with CO2<\/sub> gas, be able to recognize early symptoms, and be protected by a fixed or portable CO2<\/sub> safety system.<\/p>\n

Based on the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) \u201cPocket Guide to Chemical Hazards\u201d, common symptoms of CO2<\/sub> exposure include dizziness, headaches, poor sleep, fatigue, anxiety, eye changes, coronary heart disease, gastritis, kidney and liver damage, eye and skin burns, and skin inflammation. These symptoms only occur if the NIOSH-standard recommended exposure limit (REL) and\/or the OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) permissible exposure limit (PEL) exceeds 5000 ppm. <\/p>\n

CO2<\/sub> Concentration in Fermentation Cellars<\/h2>\n

The carbon dioxide concentration in a room depends on the VOLUME of the room and the amount of CO2<\/sub> released into it.
