Death in the Cellar, Investigations Launched. On Wednesday, December 14, 2022, the fatal tragedy occurred at the Corvezzo winery in Cessalto. A 43-year-old winery worker died while cleaning a wine tank from inhaling carbon dioxide.

Thick Air

Labeled by many as “Thick Air”, yet still odorless, the CO2 danger lurks in the fermentation cellar. During alcoholic fermentation, in addition to heat and alcohol, a large amount of CO2 is also produced. Important to know! – Carbon dioxide, in high concentrations, displaces oxygen in the air, which can lead to suffocation and thus death.
